Safe transport for people with disability

At Mobility and Accessibility for Children and Adults Ltd. (MACA) we're driving change to advance the rights of children and adults with disabilities and medical conditions to safe transport.

Supporting children and adults with disability

As of November 2024, Mobility and Accessibility for Children in Australia Ltd has a new name that is inclusive of all people with disabilities and medical conditions – Mobility and Accessibility for Children and Adults Ltd.

This shift to include adults in MACA’s name reflects the significant need for advocacy, support and research in this space.

MACA is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services to deliver a national program of work for children with disability and this will remain our primary focus. In fact, much of this work is already applicable to the transport needs of adults.

However, our new name recognises the gaps in transport policy, research, products and support for adults with disability which MACA is working to address.

With you on every journey

Our work gives families, carers and people with disability the information and support they need to travel safely and comfortably on our roads.

This website provides trustworthy information and resources, developed over many years through collaboration and research. The lived experience of families is at the heart of our work, and as you explore our website you will meet some of these families.

We rapidly translate our research into information, resources and training to help health professionals in their important role supporting people with disability and families with their children's vehicle transport needs. Resources include a national product register, policies, information about road laws and standards, and FAQs for parents and allied health professionals.
