What we do

At Mobility and Accessibility for Children and Adults (MACA) we’re advancing the rights of people with disability and medical conditions to safe transport.

MACA delivers evidence-based and independent information to help people with disability make informed decisions about their motor vehicle transport needs.

Our leading Australian Safety Assessment Program is advancing knowledge about the safety and performance of specialty vehicle restraint systems and improving access to independently assessed products.

Gaps in Australian policy, research and knowledge have made it hard for people with disability to access the information and support they need for safe motor vehicle transport.

Working closely with people with disability, government, researchers and industry, we are closing these gaps by:

leading research to advance knowledge and understanding about the transport needs and experiences of people with disability
delivering evidence-based training for allied health professionals, disability service providers and behaviour support practitioners.
participating in national policy and standards committees
delivering a national support service, accessible website and information resources
working with people with disability to co-design information and resources
providing expert consultancy services
