The Matrix Light 2 is the first lie flat child restraint to be available in Australia since the 1980s. 
Due to complex medical vulnerabilities, some infants and young children are unable to be transported in vehicles using Australian standard car seats. 
The Matrix Light 2 may be suitable for some infants and young children who - for medical reasons - are unable to be transported in a reclined position.
The Matrix Light 2 is a mainstream child restraint from overseas that is supplied and sold in Australia as a special purpose car seat.

Matrix Light 2

The Hero-XL is a rear-facing only car seat with a five-point built-in harness. It is suitable for children from 61 cm to 125 cm in height and up to 36 kg in weight, allowing extended rear-facing travel. It is installed with the seatbelt and lower tether anchorages (no ISOFIX). 
The Hero-XL comes standard with adjustable lateral supports and installation straps for lower tether points. 
Accessory options include seat depth adapter, medial thigh support, combination medial thigh support and depth adaptor, tray table and seat protector mat (for underneath the car seat).

The Hero-XL has been AuSAP assessed. The Hero-XL is a rear-facing only special purpose car seat, allowing children to travel rear-facing for longer (61 cm to 125 cm, and 36 kg).

Hero-XL

The Simon Car Seat is a forward-facing car seat for children between 100-150 cm in height requiring additional postural support. 
It comes standard with swivel base (which requires ISOFIX for installation), 10° tilt in space, and adjustable trunk, pelvic, and head supports. 
The Simon Car Seat also comes with a support tray and built-in loudspeakers in the headrest of the seat, enabling the connection of a device with music. 
Cost: $10,995 AUD (excl. GST). This price is inclusive of all accessories and the swivel base.

The Simon Car Seat has been AuSAP assessed. The Simon Car Seat is a forward-facing special purpose car seat with swivel base and postural supports. Suitable for use by children 100 cm to 150 cm in height.

Simon Car Seat

The Kidsflex 3 comes standard with 5 point harness, head support, tilt-in-space, recline, large laterals and swivel base (left turning only and requires ISOFIX). Optional accessories include a foot rest and tray table.
The Kidsflex 3 provides an option for older occupants up to 75 kg in weight and is also available in a smaller model (Kidsflex 2) for children up to 36 kg.
Cost: From $7,100 AUD (excl. GST). Typical configuration $9,000 AUD (excl. GST).

The Kidsflex 3 has been AuSAP assessed. The Kidsflex 3 provides an option for older occupants and has an upper weight limit of 75 kg.

The Thomashilfen Commander comes with a built-in harness (for postural support only) and a range of optional accessories. This includes, for example, hip and lateral supports, abduction block, crotch pad, swivel base, footrest, seat depth extension, anti-escape vest (shoulder strap retainer).

Thomashilfen Commander

The Defender is suitable for use with the built-in harness as the primary restraint from 10 kg to 29.5 kg. It can be used as a booster seat from 13.6 kg to 50 kg, which means the vehicle seatbelt must be used. In booster mode the built-in harness can continue to be used for postural support only. 
It comes standard with a chest clip, head, lateral and thigh supports. Optional items include swivel base, footrest, support tray, abduction pommel, and seat wedge for extra recline. 
The optional swivel base can only be used in booster seat mode, and requires ISOFIX.

The Thomashilfen Defender has been AuSAP assessed. It has an optional swivel base and can be used by occupants up to 50 kg.

The Kidsflex 2 comes standard with 5 point harness, head support, tilt-in-space, recline, small laterals and swivel base (left turning only and requires ISOFIX). Optional accessories include a foot rest and tray table.
There is also a larger Kidsflex 3, suitable for occupants up to 75 kg. 
Cost: From $7,100 AUD (excl. GST). Typical configuration $9,000 AUD (excl. GST).

Kidsflex 2

The Carrot XL comes standard with a low contour seat base, 50mm height extension, deep headrest, width adjustable shoulder protector wings, and a four point H-Harness.
As a larger sized car seat it is designed for older children and adult users. If the person is already using a <a href="https://www.macahub.org/products/special-purpose-car-seats/carrot-3000">Carrot 3000</a>, an upgrade kit is available for the Carrot XL. 
The Carrot XL is used just like a booster seat, with the seatbelt placed over the occupant FIRST, followed by the harness to provide postural support and/or anti-escape options. 
Optional items include a support tray, lateral and back supports, crotch belt, tilt wedge, anti-escape options, and an air mesh cushion pad. 
Cost: From $5,000 AUD (excl. GST). Typical configuration $6,500 AUD (excl. GST).

The Carrot XL has been AuSAP assessed. This is a larger car seat, with a wide seat base, suitable for older children and adult users. The Carrot 3000 can be upgraded to this larger version.

Carrot XL

The Thomashilfen Hercules Prime comes standard with a swivel base, tilting function (10 degrees), head cushion, back cushion, crotch pad, harness and removable/washable covers.
As a larger sized car seat, it is designed for older children and adult users. 
The vehicle seatbelt is the primary restraint for the Hercules Prime (just like a booster seat). The harness is placed on the occupant FIRST, followed by the vehicle seatbelt.

The Hercules Prime has been AuSAP assessed. This is a larger car seat, with swivel base, suitable for older children and adult users.

The Carrot 3000 provides an extensive range of standard and optional features, including for example swivel base, footrest, anti-escape (buckle options and shoulder strap retainer), extra recline, support tray. 
This restraint provides positioning support for children needing head, trunk and pelvic stability. 
The swivel base requires ISOFIX. 
Cost: Typical configuration $6,700 AUD (excl. GST). Typical configuration with swivel base $11,000 AUD (excl. GST).

The Carrot 3000 has been AuSAP assessed. It provides an extensive range of standard and optional features, including a swivel base.

Carrot 3000

The Starlight-NXT is designed to cater for children from 9 kg to 36 kg. It comes standard with swivel base (left turning and requires ISOFIX for use), adjustable headrest and slim lateral supports.
The Starlight-NXT is used with the built-in harness as the primary restraint from 9 kg to 18 kg (the seatbelt is used behind the child to secure the Starlight-NXT to the vehicle). However it can be used from 15 kg to 36 kg with the seatbelt as the primary restraint, enabling the swivel base feature to be used.
Options include abductor block and support tray.

The Starlight-NXT has been AuSAP assessed. It is designed to cater for children from a small 9 kg and up to 36 kg.

The Ipai-LGT is a lighter restraint with a built-in harness (for postural support only). The built-in harness includes a large stable tee pad. 
It comes standard with lateral supports. 
A support tray is offered as an optional accessory. 
NOTE: The Ipai-LGT is not an Australian Britax Childcare Pty Ltd product. The Ipai-LGT is a Hernik GmbH (German company) special purpose car seat, imported into Australia by Medifab. Hernik GmbH uses a Britax Romer (European) standard product and has adapted it for use as a special purpose car seat.

The IPAI-LGT has been AuSAP assessed. This lighter restraint has a built-in harness (for postural support only) and comes standard with lateral supports.

IPAI-LGT

The Hero-NXT is the first special purpose car seat available in Australia that complies with the newer European regulation - ECE r129.
It is suitable for children from birth to approximately four years of age, and can be used rearward facing (from 40-105 cm) and forward facing (from 76-105 cm), with a maximum weight limit of 18 kg.
It comes standard with swivel base, rotating 90°, 180° and 360°, and 10° tilt in space, and lateral supports.
The Hero-NXT has an optional accessory support tray.
It is installed using ISOFIX only (no option for installing with vehicle seatbelt) and uses a support leg (foot prop) instead of a top tether strap, in accordance with ECE r129.
